If you are using an in-browser Ethereum wallet (e.g. Metamask, Brave, Parity) then any website can detect if you are an Ethereum user. I wouldn't be surprised if some advertisers are already collecting this information.
Are you sure? I installed 0.19.122 to check and it seems like it is installed but disabled. If you are on OS X, use something like AppCleaner to uninstall: https://freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/ . Do fresh install after that.pic.twitter.com/sEztSoEV69

I'm sure. I don't remember the version, but installed Brave just days after its release and subsequent upgrades. Possible change turning MM off in later downloads of 0.19.122. Using MM in FF 1st time just hrs before your post. IMO- too risky, too many moving parts. Disabled it.

Ok, that is bad if true; glad we fixed it. Defaults should be disabled. Staff heard this loud and clear tonight.

Keep in mind, I installed Brave just days after its first release as well as subsequent updates, so it's possible the correct or incorrect default settings could have carried forward somewhere along the way. Brave is also on my phones and the 1st browser opened in the morning.

I haven’t checked this but if you’re right and you never manually enabled, then I would guess one of the early versions enabled it by default and that setting got grandfathered into your updates.

Yeah I tried installing the very first release (0.19.53) where Metamask was introduced and it was disabled by default. Don't see any changes that standout when git spelunking.
