If you are using an in-browser Ethereum wallet (e.g. Metamask, Brave, Parity) then any website can detect if you are an Ethereum user. I wouldn't be surprised if some advertisers are already collecting this information.

You didn't make a mistake. I do not think you installed it. You're detail oriented. MetaMask was included w/ Brave and On by default. I've been using Firefox w/ MetaMask extension and did not know it was there until I checked after your warning and the all the hullabaloo over it.

I don’t think so. Please produce evidence rather than accusing. On principle we do not enable extensions (or bundle .crx files — they are big & need to be curated from Chrome Web Store into our own S3-based store). See https://github.com/brave/browser-laptop/blob/3176df0e13275aafb147018cd23e8312bf5527e7/js/constants/appConfig.js#L227 … where metamask defaults to disabled.

Give it a rest. I can't get involved in all this, you're too emotional. I'm not accusing anyone of anything. Brave is a great browser. No problem, just too busy trying to lock everything down from those track, tracing and data-basing everyone until I can memorize 12 seed words..

Not emo here, just looking for facts, evidence of enabled by default. I do not see it in github blame:https://github.com/brave/browser-laptop/commit/d3195361746045ed4b6e0ac15d35ee847b6bfd7f …

I'm confirming it is neither installed nor enabled by default. We do prompt the user if they're on a Dapp and ask if they'd like to install it. (Side note: That's the code for the component updater server)

I know this is redundant but for onlookers,
@brave blocks ad and tracking requests by default, in addition to what@BrendanEich mentioned above. Not trying to beat up on the OP, just mentioning as we take these things seriously.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
