If you are using an in-browser Ethereum wallet (e.g. Metamask, Brave, Parity) then any website can detect if you are an Ethereum user. I wouldn't be surprised if some advertisers are already collecting this information.

Brave doesn’t have Metamask installed by default. It’s an extension you have to download and install separately (as mentioned by Crypt0Ninja). Do you have a PoC site or repo to try against? If so, did you do so with a clean install of Brave?
-
It is installed by default (unless that was changed recently), but not enabled.
-
Metamask as an extension has NEVER been installed by default. Maybe you’re thinking of the ledger/BAT wallet?

I replied to Brenden. Sorry about the mixup, I thought Metamask was on by default in Bravehttps://twitter.com/backus/status/955145546347393026 …

Also we block the ads and tracking in
@brave by default. Advertisers aren't collecting if nothing is sent to their servers.
