Well I get the idea, but the demonstration is quite... flawed. Ideas are not made of atoms. And the absence of "ideal order" is presented as something "bad". For me, it's the greatest chance of all, I can make my life whatever I want because there is no "divine order".
I think this sort of shows that. No need to accept the conclusion
Cmon man, “just for the hell of it”?!? From the time I was five (albeit the only Jew in town) I saw it for what it was: a social control tool. I asked my friends why they were behaving well for an imaginary fat man (hence why kids weren’t allowed to hang out with me.)
Yes.. Naughty or nice... Our compliance and binary oriented thinking is programmed into us from birth. Down with Santa.
Well then religion, politics, school of thoughts in medicine and science are all subjects of control then. So are we all just battery then ?pic.twitter.com/GX1sVNG0rq
I don’t think think schools of thought in science and medicine fall into the same category of social control as primary education and organized religion....
Everyone thought world was flat and that was Scientifically accepted. Medicine is art, views change due to new discoveries . Aside from laws of physics, everything else is subjected to change of views . Those old* views in sense are lies
Not lies, waypoints of progress. Everything we know is likely to change at some point.
Sure , but Santa isn’t a lie really , he was a real guy who gave gifts. But I don’t get reference to birth of Christ and Santa ( Buddhist here).
*Wrapping present for a January Birthday* Observant Six Year Old: "Isn't that the same wrapping paper that Santa used?" Me: "Why yes, it does look a *bit* similar doesn't it?" O6yo: [thoughtful silence] Me *Think we got away with it...* O6yo: [eyebrow of disbelief] Me: *oh shit.*pic.twitter.com/W14m9gsFdo
Not to mention costly.
It's the most effective child behavior modification tool ever invented.
Ouch, how do you think the tooth fairy
and easter bunny
feel not getting any love or attention with this post? Way to leave them out John, rude

Interesting you chose “Santa” to illustrate this point instead of the more obvious “god”
So...when my son got to be that age, I used something like this to explain that
is real, but is a distributed network.
If only we could leverage that same effort for other good things.
As a slightly portly gentleman who has walked the streets in the role of Santa, I must say the enormity of the lie is part of the attraction
