What are personal check-in cycles you set for yourself? e.g. weekly reflection, monthly financial review, daily journaling

Unlike everyone else in the replies, I’m just rolling with it. Didn’t realize everyone else had “check-in cycles”

Oh, but I do set calendar reminders for future one-off check-ins. For example, I'm currently waiting til one month after a loss to see how well my grief is subsiding.

Because grief comes and goes like a tide so you can't evaluate it continuously or ad hoc.

I basically check in whenever I feel ashamed of myself for having indulged for too long, or after some stimuli like meeting a cool friend or witnessing a cool event and so on. Self-imposed spaced-repetition type schedules typically make me hate myself

I suspect there's a bit of selection bias in the answers. I saw it and thought "n/a". But I do one-off scheduled check-ins like @zooko, usually to guard against blinkered following a plan.

don't think these things are one size fits all. I've experimented with lots of different systems (including no system), and am working within the framework I enjoyed most, given my current environment

here's what I like about it: it forces me explicitly to think long term and short term in a connected manner, which I've found difficult to balance without taking time to be intentional and explicit about it

I use an app to have different-cadence checkins with others, but self checkins are... not at all structured.https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/garden-stay-in-touch/id1230466454?mt=8 …
