I wonder if the thing we need to do is figure out norms that are low friction for improving legibility and summarization of our subgroups. For example I wish groups of friends stored their data in a way that could be externalized in future. Like we do for presidents

I think to a considerable extent that that is antithetical to the structure and functions of subcultures. Much of the entire point is to be a 'warren' which is 'illegible' so they can develop safely and in isolation. LW could never have developed if we had normies around.

Yeah! Actually discussed this a bit with
@byrneseyeview somewhat recently. Finding positive terms for "filter bubbles" makes it hard to not question a lot of the mainstream fears about how filter bubbling is bad or whatever.1 reply 0 retweets 6 likes
