Seeking alternative compression. Hopefully wrong on average. Shameless. Started @getcognito and @bloom

This worries me tbh. Because it is a synomonous statement to the view that nonfungibility and illegibility are key to social happiness and not being zero sum. And neither are things I believe are macro trending in that direction

I think it's positive. People in our generation don't have to live their life feeling like an outsider in a monoculture. Being a part of multiple subcultures may improve specialization and lead to more interdisciplinary thinking. Also, more happiness in the world hopefully.
I agree. Think positive in micro. But we are Macro heading away from many nonfungible subcultures for average person. (I think good chance this could reverse of course). After all the OG subcultures was proximity when traveling was hard;)
Is it? I feel like social media actually gives us a new currency. What did we have before that, except wealth? Wrote something up about that a while ago that I ended up never publishingpic.twitter.com/tzQ7dPnsC5
Social media extends and changes social capital. But social capital always existed--even before social media as an alternative system and currency to financial capital
Main value I see is captured by what we're doing right now. Social capital existed before, but without whatever SV twitter subculture we're part of, we might not have communities where we can cash in these thoughts. Specialized interests are only legible in specialized groups.
