Curious what it’d be like if more platforms had profitable partnership programs like YouTube. Ex: • Reddit mods • Instagram models • Snapchat influencers • Popular Twitter accounts • StackOverflow power users 3rd party economies already exist for most of em, right?

I imagine people will object on aesthetic grounds (“don’t ruin my community with money”) and incentive grounds (replacing intrinsic motivation with extrinsic doesn’t work). It clearly worked for YouTube though. I bet it could have interesting results on other platforms too!

YouTube was brought to this kicking and screaming. It took a huge increase in power of influencers via direct relationships with brands. Bringing them back into the fold was one of the main tasks when Susan W took over as CEO. Musically built influencers into model from day 1.
