I have a Google Doc but apparently I need a specific app (not the generic Google drive app) on my phone to edit it so I just dump into telegram. Meh.

I have a book list which I hardly ever update and a to read articles list which grows constantly in size, I rarely read anything from that list.

I will ONCE AGAIN reiterate that putting off reading anything written recently will save you so much time because most actually useless writing goes out of date quickly.

Yeah, consuming media that has stood the test of time is a good heuristic for intrinsic content value. Unfortunately, this ignores the social ramifications. It doesn't matter if The Office holds up--you should watch it so you can bond with the rest of, uh, *everyone*.

There’s literally a pile of like 6-8 books on the left side of the bed where a life partner should go

What I try to do: keep one tab open at a time. Instapaper the rest. What I actually do: keep opening tabs till I can’t read their names, open up more tabs digging through rabbit holes, go through them one by one till it becomes manageable.

Let it get to 100 items, get stressed out, ultimately realize that if I haven't read them by now I never will, delete everything, start over

I keep reading as many articles as I can following hyperlinks after hyperlinks, down the rabbit hole till I find the right thing or I have some other immediate thing to attend. Which ends up me bookmarking the right link or this search will have to wait for next time.

this works best for me too

I stack rank my article backlog, but also don't require myself to take the top item when I dip in or finish an item I'm on if I find it low value

Used to capture everything in Pocket throughout the day & read in batches. Now, I stick to 10 tabs max rule.

For physical books, use spacial sorting and constraint: * one shelf (visible) dedicated to "active" * one shelf in closet for "on-deck" (i.e., out of sight) * limit reference books to three other shelves * never buy a book if there is not space on shelves * spring/fall purging
