We've toyed around with this idea! The rub IMO is that including more context (surrounding text, images, masthead, fonts) is such a specific ask that product-izing a tool to do it all would be negligibly better than a screenshot. But I'm always re-evaluating these choices :)

Interesting. It also matters a lot too how highlights are being consumed, which may be why it wasn't a big diff for Highly. If I'm following another Highly user and see a highlight that is interesting, I can click through to the page.

I like Highly on its own more than I expected (I used to just never highlight), but I'm most interested in Highly+Readwise. Specifically, I think getting isolated nuggets of insight in my inbox (from past reading or people I respect) is key. The less work I have to do, the better

I think the way many Twitter users (me,
@Altimor,@rsnous,@devonzuegel) share highlighted screenshots w/ context reveals a desire path that best fits@readwiseio but is also prob relevant to Highly. Embracing the screenshot may be a good move. Social layer for Screenotate

We have a feature backlogged that we're calling "hyperhighlighting": Requires highlighting the full context (eg multiple paragraphs) in Highly/elsewhere, then in Readwise we let you "highlight the highlight" -> you share the full context with your hyperhighlights showing on top

Awesome sounds like exactly what I want. Only issue is the 1k characters Highly limit which I think should be higher to support stuff like this
