My trick is to share so much junk with all my friends that it becomes a simpler problem of figuring out which appropriate enough group has least recently received a message from me

Wait, isn't this Google+ circles?

kinda! The group chat dynamic has some tricky social pressure under the hood that makes it better than a timeline. If I’m in a 4 person chat and I haven’t responded to anything in a week (while others are active) they’ll likely redirect content to the 3 person chat w/o me

Not to mention every plan you make with a group of friends. I find friends start WhatsApp groups and then we just end up keeping the convo going after the event. Never happened with email.
