Was wondering if someone who treated his employees as badly as Steve Jobs did (in 1980s Apple) would still be able to be successful today. I think probably not, since engineers have much more leverage + options to quit.

Requires the God like internal status IMO. Check out “the one device” if you haven’t. I didn’t realize Apple had dozens of employees dressing like Jobs lookalikes. A former employee said he didn’t realize he was in line with Steve once since he assumed it was another “clone”

We also may never have a Steve Jobs idolized leader (who can therefore treat employees terribly) for the same reason we will never have another Oprah. Both built big personal brands when it was possible to reach tons of people, but before there were endless options like today
