I mean stuff like "X is only used for scams", "Y is a tire fire", etc. The general public, uninterested in looking hard for the potential in a nascent technology, will usually sneer or ignore early stuff. People trying to build a name in the early stage tech world shouldn't, IMO

Agree with you that these discussions tend to swing WILDLY between "X is going to transform everything" and "X is just overhyped bs". (Blockchain being an obvious example of this). In general I prefer discussions of ACTUAL urgent problems that might be solved by x.

The opposite of love isn't hate its indifference. Whenever the HN comment section starts to get really pissed off about something & that something is growing in usage & popularity, I pay attention.
