Even something like a more general networking option would go a long way. @feross mentioned how this would help @WebTorrentApp communicate with the BitTorrent DHT in browser. I’m sure it could do way more too

Idk we use encrypted private cloud storage for performance and the blockchain only for naming. We’re probably in the middle of the spectrum. “thoughtfully decentralized”

Ability to do general networking could be a good starting point. Then people could write libraries to interact with the BitTorrent network, IPFS, etc. If it was specific implementations, DNS-like alternatives + IPFS or Dat

Most parts of the modern brower are composable open source projects at this point, right? Probably a much lighter lift to build an ecosystem of alternatives these days than in years past.
