I’m not really sure why treadmills feel so different, since I’ve run my favorite local trail hundreds of times at this point and I always know exactly how far I’ve run.

Same. But then there’s the mental burn from running around obstacles in the city that takes from the experience. Running in rural areas is best.

Yeah I also don’t love running a path I don’t know where there are a lot of decisions. A long straight trail that only has other hikers/runners/bikers is the best

Treadmills suck. I'd rather run laps of a car park. I did this once at an airport Sheraton rather than use their well-appointed but soul-crushing gym.
