It’s a lot of work to build a profitable social or community product. Look at gab or mastedon for example.

Most social products dont die for technical reasons. They die because nobody wants to use them. Getting people to care about your product and use it regularly is very hard. Mastodon got very lucky with its timing.

I think
@backus does a lot of good work talking about stuff like this. He talks about the history of p2p and it’s parallels with crypto currency communities. I think this is very relevant when thinking about how to build and incentivize a modern niche community.2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -
