Nice try, fed!

Yeah I’ve read this, the Wikipedia, etc. The first answer to the quora question is… bizarre. The other ones are speculation or wrong. I’m just baffled because I can’t tell if we even know who is running it. IMO there is a lot to learn from the answer to this question in 2018
-
So, the basic answer is that they're using magnets, which aren't files, but are links to locations of files -- so it's less illegal in that regard. Past that, they have the database index distributed across a number of different nodes, and there's also a list of domains.
-
Yeah, magnet URLs are unrelated (although it is a legal strat) b/c the main thing is Sweden basically excommunicated TPB after US threatened sanctions. AFAIK, they publish annual archives and def distribute DB internally like you said, but I’m trying to find written confirmation
-
I'm trying to remember the details of it. They posted a blog post (titled something like "TPB is now take-down proof", that laid out their strategy for making it death-proof, but I don't remember where that was posted to, or how to find it now.
-
Yeah they describe how their request router and storage are in different countries and whatnot, I’ll find the article

im kind of inspired to make one of those "can i help you?" pop up chat bots that just accuses user of being a FED after 2-3 exchanges
-
Talk to someone at Uber they probably already built this

One detail I remember reading is that they kept the databases in memory not for performance reasons, but to remove evidence in case the underlying hardware gets seized
-
Yup! > communication with users goes through TPB’s load balancer … The load balancer is not in the same country as the transit-router or the cloud servers Separate from raids, who is running it and how are they avoiding jail?https://torrentfreak.com/pirate-bay-moves-to-the-cloud-becomes-raid-proof-121017/ …

I'm as technically impressed and academically curious as you are ;)

Maybe skim through http://torrentfreak.com or http://reddit.com/r/trackers (tho they are not too friendly to public tracker speak)
-
Have read through a decent amount of both but will skim more. Main thing is looking for authoritative quotes from like 12ish months

Possibly it's still alive because they are paranoid to think everyone asking questions is a Fed.

It's servers were at same place as that of WikiLeaks in Pionen Facility inside a Nuclear Bunker somewhere in Sweden as of 2013. the documentary TPB AFK is great to understand pirate bay.

Lmao, reminds me of the gangs’ reaction to a sociologist asking them “how does it feel to be poor”https://twitter.com/visakanv/status/957491354652721152?s=21 …
