Took a megadose of social media. Here is my erowid experience report: • Decent dopamine spike for first ~5hr of 10+ notifications/sec • Tolerance to notifications builds quickly. Had to mute for a few days • Bizarre seeing same 5-6 comments 50 times each, all from diff peoplehttps://twitter.com/backus/status/1015820990696194049 …

Trippy side effects: • Impressed how quickly/early sites pumped out articles. Several strange 100% autogenerated YT vids too. Weird peak into an industry • Felt clear people knew how they wanted to react. Opinion on Affleck, joke, nitpick, "I could have done that", etc

While I felt a bit tired of everyone's reactions after 3 days of notifications, it was refreshing that 95% of the reactions were positive. Most people were just excited and thought Ben's prediction was cool, I think. Small minority of negative reactions

Dopamine spike of 5 hours is short given it was high activity for ~3.5 days. May have lasted longer if it had gone viral within my usual circles or was content I produced. I found it and shared it because of the file sharing part, but it went viral because of the celebrity aspect

John Backus Retweeted Robin Hanson
Reminds me of this tweet from Robin. I found it pretty funny at the time. A bit funnier nowhttps://twitter.com/robinhanson/status/977456182557331456 …
