Well designed game theory can make a protocol better though. Big reason why BitTorrent is so fast!https://twitter.com/backus/status/999519259628732416 …

Neat yeah I ran into a bunch of Tribler materials near the end of writing my blog post on this. Would love to chat more with you 1-on-1 about this stuff
Enjoyed @backus "What if BitTorrent had a token?". Our lab is dedicated to "Bandwidth-as-a-Currency" since our Aug 2007 launch on BBC News, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6971904.stm …). Interesting, will review. Quick question: as you understand it, what is the primary obstacle to making your system an order or two of magnitude more popular (e.g. in terms of daily actives or transmission volume)?
Engineering Time. Crafting compiler, kernel, AI engine, and token economy from scratch takes time. When they work, it disrupts, like Skype killed Big Telco. Polishing Tribler to "Youtube level" will take most time. Install flawlessly, never crash, fast.. We compete with "Free".
Def. up for it - will DM, love the history of filesharing myself - so many lessons there, much of it will likely become more relevant again with this new p2p wave.
