correction to the above article (now fixed) - the polymer that was changed was not the main silicone membrane layer, but another piece of polymer that rests on top of the key switch dome. I regret the error. (Golly there are a lot of different parts to this keyboard.)

There's a typo in the third paragraph that makes it unclear whether nylon is the old material or the new material. (Perhaps the word "was" was left out. If I'm right, the author will know exactly where it should go. If I'm wrong, well, that's the point. The reader doesn't know.)
-
wil fix ty!
-
You’re the author? My apologies if I was being too flip. I often assume my words just go into the ether, never to reach anyone who can do anything about them. But Twitter has changed all that. Coincidentally, I just watched a great YouTube video by you this morning.
-
The other thing about Twitter is that you learn that authors and journalists are real people with feelings and opinions, who unfortunately must have to put up with a lot of online abuse. Hopefully the praise outweighs the abuse.

I mean they said they will fix them in store for free going back 4 years. I don’t know it really matters when they ultimately make good on repairs.
-
Sure it does. Taking a computer in for repairs is a pain in the butt, and it's time--potentially quite a lot of time, if you don't live near one of their stores--you're not, you know, using the computer you paid for.
-
I mean, I don't know about you, but "This is going to break a lot, but it's cool, I can get it fixed" is not one of my usual pre-purchase calculations.
-
give me a list of companies who make products without a single flaw. In an ideal world nothing would break, but that’s not reality. Apple is going to take care of bad design for free. The reason it’s a big deal is bc their products are normally *that* good.
-
"without a single flaw" =/= "without a chronic failure state that's been known and left uncorrected for years, but we'll fix it when it inevitably breaks, so buy it". Only a company secure to the point of arrogance in its cult status would expect us to accept the latter.

I don't know much about materials, but I do study product design - and I have to say, changing materials can make a huge difference
-
no, it’s a “fundamentally flawed design” according to a biomedical physics student earlier in the replies, and
@backlon has injected speculation of his own, so please educate yourself -
I do believe that Magnus Jensen already has several years educating himself in product development. His is not an idle opinion like that of 99% of Twitter -- it's an educated opinion.pic.twitter.com/uqCHC4QknR

(that was the joke)

I need to educate myself on your sense of humor.
I have a very dry sense of humor but I often fail to spot dry humor in other people. -
no worries, sometimes I myself can’t tell when I’m joking

I agree it won’t make a KEY difference. #

Stop joking around. It's a PRESSING issue.

I think the tech blogosphere highly overestimates how much the general consumer cares, or even knows about, this issue. It’s not going to keep very many people from buying Macs.
