A6: UGH immediately after finishing I was a wreck and think yes it did, but with some reflection I realize that it has changed for me and I'm able to see two truths or two events in my head at the same time - it's hard w/o spoilers!

A6: knowing the "truth" changes how I feel about some of Mary's ~present day~ interactions but I also think the truth does not matter at all when we think about her (and all the girls') treatment in the group home and the truly broken justice system we have.

A4: I think the book that most strongly comes to mind is GIRLS LIKE US by Randi Pink! As far as the maternal figures...Jackson does a great job at giving characters layers and nuance is all I'll say

A4: i can't think of any that i've read recently, but WITH THE FIRE ON HIGH features a teenage girl with a daughter, which I *adored* 🥭 i thought the mom figures in ALLEGEDLY were so interesting and complex. esp. like the people Mary wasn't related to.

A2: Allegedly really made me think about how quick we can be to judge people without knowing their whole story. And the way Mary used the word as she slipped pieces of her own story to us, really played that up.
