Henry Ford hated black music so much he pushed square dancing on the public as an alternative, which is why it was taught in schools even when I was a boy in the 70s.

I hope people aren't getting the idea that there is anything inherently bad about square dancing from this. Like a lot of white supremacists, Ford was trying to take something that wasn't inherently racist and use it to racist ends.
