It’s funny to think that I was originally dead set against the idea of a second season of BoJack, figuring the premise would never survive being stretched out for another 12 episodes. Shows you what I know.

But in this case... well, we know how this all will end again, won't we? We've seen this dance play out so many times that the writers don't even need to come out and say it anymore. So they don't. And suddenly that pause has an awful lot more finality to it.

Even in the perpetually soul-crushing Sad Horse Universe, change is possible. (Though perhaps not so coincidentally, for BoJack's circle that also means quietly breaking with one of their longest-running and most self-destructive habits: BoJack Horseman himself.)

The very fact that we recognize the sketched outlines of exactly what's to come is a slow, creeping downer - not least because we've just seen multiple characters find happiness, or at least some form of contentment, by finally breaking with preconceptions of who they have to be.

-the more I think about where that last minute leaves us, the bleaker that not-quite-an-ending ending starts feeling. Without getting too much into spoiler territory, thinking about everything that's been lost leading up to this moment, and what's left... "That's too much, man."

Given that, tying everything up in a nice Hollywoo-style bow for the closing moments of this series was never going to be an option. As the show kept reminding us, life still goes on after you pick up the pieces. What you make of it - that's up to you. And so it is here, except-

Which in turn meant there was always a certain honesty and savvy underpinning these stories, and more importantly, the way they were able to lean into heavyweight issues like depression and dementia in a way that felt revelatory, instead of simply exploitative.

Fair: As much as Raphael Bob-Waksberg and co. loved tearing fans' hearts out with big, high-stakes slabs of capital-D Darkness, the show's creative team was always keenly attuned to the more mundane aspects of emotional damage, too - the quiet parts you live with, day in and out.

And while S6.5 isn't exactly shy with BoJack's signature darkness, those final 27 minutes feel - at first blush - like of less an ending, more a... stopping point, a pause in a conversation that's winding down but hasn't quite finished yet.

Been ruminating a bit on BoJack's final half-season after flu-binging the whole shebang on Friday. It's a running joke by now that Sad Horse fans have to steel themselves for each new drop of episodes - not for naught, given the show's fondness for raw-wound emotional trauma.

99 smartphones are transported in a handcart to generate virtual traffic jam in Google Maps. Through this activity, it is possible to turn a green street red which has an impact in the physical world by navigating cars on another route!

Here's a double header for you: it's the end of the month _and_ the last installment of my Chapter 5 commentary. Naturally, I commemorated the occasion by spending far too much of it talking about George R. R. Martin's taste in word processors.

Dystopia exists. The abandoned apartment block- Ponte City, Johannesberg. In the 1990s gangs moved in & it became a symbol of crime & urban decay. The core filled with refuse 5 stories high. In the 1990s there were plans to turn the building into a highrise prison. Thx@Oniropolis

Not going to lie - science fiction made “robot is key witness in a murder” sound like a significantly sexier prospect.
