It is bad, but why bother being vegan instead of just not buying meat? If the food is already bought by someone else, there's no real benefit to not eating it.

are people communists b/c they believe exploitation is bad or because *they* are exploited? i tend 2 think that communism is politics is power struggle & value judgments aren't a priori but derive from one's position in power struggle. that's why animals aren't a priority to most

If one's position in power struggle determines value judgments then why aren't there more communists? I get that that's likely a big component, but there's more to it than that.

positions don't determine values; values derive from positions. that is, values derive their content from positions, express the interests of a position. being a worker doesn't make one a communist (we know this), but communism is meaningless w/o expressing *workers'* liberation

all i'm really saying is you don't need a comprehensive moral theory to be a communist, or even any normative moral theory at all.
