Unequal grip development, and if you lift a lot your shoulders and back develop weirdly.
No. I refuse. If I cannot lift it with an overhand grip, then I am not worthy. That is my mindset. The most I will do is use chalk.

Cool, that’s your mindset. Our mindset is to lift with mixed grip, alternating. That doesn’t make us weak, so stop flaming random people for using mixed grip.
-
You're right, it doesn't make you weak. I was just razzing y'all. But it is indicative of a lagging grip strength which shouldn't be ignored if total strength is your goal and it can have potetentially negative effects, i.e. imbalances and higher potential for injury.

There's no such thing as weirdly high grip strength. The higher the grip strength, the more weight you can carry, and the more weight you can carry, the harder you can train in general. Most people in the western world just have extremely weak grip strength.

But there really is no shame in using straps. For example:https://youtu.be/kgoT_l2vMM8

I'd rather have a balanced body that's less prone to injury. I'm interested in functional strength over impressive numbers. Plus, I'm growing pretty fast anyway.

Plus, you can't do a clean and jerk using a mixed grip.pic.twitter.com/CQVFHvCdqI
