REPEAT AFTER ME: Mental Illness is Not an Excuse to be a Bad Person
First off, there are varying degrees of mental illness. Secondly, value is subjective so wtf does "good" and "bad" even mean?
-
-
It's extremely problematic to label others as "bad" rather than trying to understand the context of the circumstances which bring about
-
certain behaviours. It necessitates a system of discipline of which domination is the mode.

But if we want to talk about harmful language, saying “u don’t know what TF u’r talking about” could perhaps be added to the list?
-
Why? Because of the use of profanity? Who gives a fuck.
-
Or is there something about saying "you don't know what you're talking about" that's innately harmful?

Yea, I mean good and bad are subjective terms. The original tweet would be better if it said “harming others” instead of “bad” imo...
-
I agree. I should have said "Mental illness is not an excuse to harm others" or "Having a mental illness doesn't make it okay to cause trauma for other people"
-
I have to think this way in order to hold myself accountable. I have trauma and I don't want to be the source of other people's trauma. Mental illness is not an excuse to be an asshole
