People who preach non-violence most do so till violence is at their doorstep; then it's violence or death; virtually all choose the former.

Yes it does. Protective use of physical force can result in injury, etc.

It has a much lower likelihood and there is no intent to cause injury.

Like I said, if you want to consider it to be violence that's your prerogative. I still don't.

If someone shoots at you and you shoot back that's still violence.

It is preferable to disarm the shooter rather than shoot back.
