Yet it tells me not to do violence. That sounds like a moral imposition to me.

No, it gives you the tools to increase empathy and peace and helps facilitate natural giving.

Whether or not you will use these tools is up to you.

NVC is really difficult and takes a very strong mind and will to practice consistently.

It's can be very emotionally draining to practice it, especially without a group of practitioners.
