Correcly regulated capitalism appears to be the most effective at channelling greed and selfishness to the common good. Non-regulated capitalism degenerates into things like plutocracy, which is one opposite of the common good.

Where unfettered accumulation is possible it becomes inevitable. It creates a feedback loop that will corrupt all institutions to serve the greed of Capitalist. The regulation that works would make being a Capitalist at all impossible. And it isn't Capitalism at that point.
