you realize the definition of humane is compassionate, right? there’s no compassionate way to kill something. & if slaughterhouses are sooo humane, send your beloved family cat or dog there to be put down instead of the vet

“There’s no humane way to kill something” is so illogical. So if I killed a chicken with a B.B. gun vs a swift chop one wouldn’t be more humane? Putting down a dog when it bites a child isn’t humane vs killing it with a baseball bat? There are 100% humane kills.

you can say it’s “nicer,” but slitting someone’s throat or shooting them still isn’t humane. humane slaughter is an oxymoron.

you can’t “compassionately” shoot someone or slit their throat or do anything to cause harm or kill them. that’s the opposite of compassionate or humane

I’d encourage you to read some philosophy on this, because you’re wrong. Look at Of Mice and Men. The death is considered a kindness. Think beyond “death = mean = bad” and actually contemplate that there can be various forms

I have read a lot actually, I’d encourage you to do the same. The only time it would be a kindness is if the animal or human were already dying or in excruciating pain. The animals that humans eat do not want to die, therefore it can never be done compassionately/humanely

I have a degree in applied ethical philosophy. I’ve taken like 4 separate classes discussing this type of thing. Euthanasia, PAS, active, passive, involuntary, non voluntary. Death isn’t black and white. We can move towards better treatment of livestock and still eat them.
