I am greatly confused when a "Communist" tells me that because an idea or movement "doesn't have a historical precedent" it is impossible. Are we fighting for reform? Are we slaves forever repeating a past? Or do we want a classless, stateless world where we are finally free?
It makes sense though. It's causality. One thing leads to another, and without a pathway (or historical precedent) nothing can be achieved. For example, I cannot build a modern computer if electricity has not yet been discovered and harnessed.

Usually the argument is more like, no one has ever built a computer, therefore it's impossible to build a computer.

Well that's just stupid and undialectical and something I would expect from a liberal.
