I accidentally retweeted that, but I did intentionally like it. The idea that pornography is the denial of the human subject resonates with me as a recovering porn addict. Further, from what I've been reading, there is a strong link between porn and sex trafficking...

insofar as sex work is more exploitative than any other similar form of labour it is because it's more stigmatised and marginalised

marginalised people are drawn to marginalised occupations, and the sex industry has been allowed to be exploitative because those it exploits are marginalised (if not before, they became so when they start sex work)

i am yet to see an anti-sex work argument that didn't ultimately seem to proceed from the position that there is an essential, 'proper' mode of human sexuality — only between people who love each other etc — and sex work is condemnable because it violates that mode

and i'm not sure if against sex work but for sex workers is a coherent position. certainly you could be such as anti-mining and pro-miner, but then mining is not stigmatised in the same way

before we can talk about abolishing sex work as a form of labour ('labour' here distinct from the broader concept of 'work' as any purposeful human activity), we need to elevate sex workers to a level where they are, in fact, treated as workers, and not vermin

The proper mode of human sexuality is consensuality. I'm anti-porn for reasons that don't have to do with romantic traditionalist notions of love and sensuality. My stance is anti-patriarchy based on anti-exploitation; against sexual violence, objectification, commodification, &c
