It is not a democracy by any standard.

The DPRK has county, city, and provincial elections to the local people’s assemblies, as well as national elections to the Supreme People’s Assembly, their legislature. These are carried out every five years. How is that not a democracy?
-
1) they are not competitive in any sense 2) to vote “against” the party they have to cross out the name of the candidate with a red pen in front of an election official 3) at some stations there are separate boxes for no votes They are just show elections, a political census.

lol that's not true at all Where did you get your info?

It’s well known, but here’s a reporthttps://www.aljazeera.com/news/2015/07/local-elections-north-korea-bring-change-150718180133222.html …

Listen, I know you are desperate to argue and defend the DPRK, but I try not to argue with bad faith actors online. You either believe NK citizens saying this or you don’t, and if you don’t you’re either acting in bad faith or a fool, and I try not to argue with either.

I believe the DPRK citizens who live in the DPRK and who weren't paid off by old ROK/USA. That Al Jazeera article is pure propaganda and not reflective of the actual system of democracy in the DPRK at all.

They hold “elections” where kim’s name is the only one on the ballot and everyone who tries to run against him gets suicided by two rounds in the back of the head.

Do you feel good about yourself being a liar?
-
So it doesn’t feel off that he got 100% of the votes?
