The fact that some Socialists believe in rewarding merit is frankly appalling. Like. You're missing the point. All deserve a fulfilling life. Labor should be fulfilling and society should provide for needs. Also objective merit is a capitalist myth

This assumes so much. Namely that the unproductive are just lazy and not unable to do the same amount of labor. That isn't exploitation, it's society. Providing when others cannot, filling in the gaps. Not to mention, again, merit of labor is subjective
-
Except the merit of labour isn't subjective. Marx proved this long ago. If the merit of labour is subjective then how is it that the working class is exploited? Also, the difference between those who can't work and those who won't is something society should be able to gauge.

I think workers owning the MoP/D will help because everyone will have more money than they can reasonably spend, which will make everything cheaper until everything is free and few people work for the sake of it
-
At that point, we'd be pretty close to communism and "merit" would be irrelevant.
-
Well this would be after Communism, when people say Communism wouldn't solve ableism racism sexism etc, I feel they are being misleading because the events proceeding Communism and the removal of hierarchies and post scarcity would remove any power these people have over others

It's 2018. That's just not a real problem that we would have to face at this level of technological development. The transitional period is going to be much more about cultural change. Simply providing for everyone is easy.
