What would Alexander/Rubio/Sasse/Portman/etc's argument against censure be now that they've come out and said Trump's actions were bad but not worthy of removal?

After two and half centuries of our nation's history, it's come to this: The President's lawyers argue on the Senate floor that he can withhold aid, coerce an ally, and try to cheat in an election, And there's nothing we can do about it. Our Founders would be aghast.

10’s of thousands of Americans have died helping to bring free and fair elections to oppressed people around the world. Trump dishonored their sacrifice by soliciting a foreign government to interfere in ours.

And in case I wasn’t clear for those senators who in their outrage shook their heads and wailed “it’s not true” at when told the White House threatened to punish Republicans who voted against Trump: head meet pike. I’m sure you will now rally to , right?

To say that they believe that did ask for foreign interference in our domestic elections and not need to hear more and yet refuse to vote for removal because they like his policies is mind boggling. They argued on the floor of the that the (1/4)

If the Senate acquits, the Democrats should demand a vote on a censure resolution containing all the statements from Rubio, Lamar, Toomey etc expressing their disapproval of Trump. What are they going to do, vote against their own statements?

A key tell. By blaming Congress, is helping disappear the fact that *Trump himself* blocked witnesses from House (and Senate). A vote now against witnesses is a vote to complete *Trump's* coverup. That's what she & Alexander now stand for:

Wait, Bolton’s book says there was an earlier call — and Cipollone was in the room for it? The same Cipollone who’s been in the Senate for a week, insisting that there was no quid pro quo? Saying Bolton wouldn’t add anything new? That Cipollone? Huh.

I’m not sure the GOP has thought through their argument that it’s *completely* fine for presidential candidates to seek help from foreign governments, when the vast majority of foreign governments don’t like or trust the current GOP president who’s up for re-election this fall.

They’re counting on you to forget by November. It’s vital that you don’t do that. They also want you to feel hopeless — like your vote won’t matter. It’s vital that you don’t do that, too. Stay angry, my friends; we have a lot of work to do. (End)
