clock_gettime is not usually a syscall, it's mainly a vDSO. Which means you cannot see it using tools like strace: strace -fy date Cause it just do an mmap on the vDSO address.

For the people who want to time nodejs: https://nodejs.org/api/perf_hooks.html …
-
TL;DR: time = http://performance.now () dostuff() console.log(http://performance.now ()-time)

This sounds similar to the CLI command „time“ pretending to any command you run. Outputs time system and User Took and some other info
-
yeah! it's kinda like running `time` but for just a subset of what your program is doing. `time` works a different way though (using the wait3 system call, waiting for a child process to finish)

Hi Julia! I'm a fan of your tweets, they help people a lot in understanding abstract subjects! Do you have any illustration about Overcommiting? If not, I leave it here for suggestion! Thanks
