There was one other incidence when this happened. I was asked to take on a massive task that would kick off at 9am, at 4.30pm the day before... ... it pretty much broke my working relationship with that function of the University. I was no longer a team player too.

Ultimately I left. During the stress - I had support from colleagues & friends in my employer. Had to check if my issues were 'reasonable' from my point of view, and also provide some brain-space to process.

HR at my old employer really messed up the casework w.r.t. the one individual and it 'fell through the cracks' - and I was in a different country hiding from the issue too.
