Tbh, the one thing i at least respect about them, is they’re at least honest about their ignorance/ questionable views.
Other kind of only superficially acknowledged it, which sometimes I find more destructive.

Yeh, so in this case the Prof is making a statement that isn't a logical fallacy but essentially is not true in this universe.

This is a popular way many people build their arguments on this platform. It’s a house of cards once you find the erroneous assumption, but often they will switch the focus of the convo once you start addressing the weak spot. Once you know to look for it you see it everywhere.

Especially white supremacists, yup! Arguing with them is like driving/walking home in my mind. I am the driver — they are the weather/whatever. I always make it home (= get to make my coherent point), the weather is always chaos (= they always just say random trash).
