It's an issue. I don't think many people are all that familiar with concepts like intersectionality or use analytic frameworks when considering issues of discrimination. Prof. Bell Hooks has been saying stuff like this since 1978 - over a decade before I was born.

maybe 1984.. don't quote me on it. Tbh, I should read her book - "Feminist Theory: From Margin to Centre". It gets recommended a lot.

But yeh, generally the dangers of an oppression Olympics was discussed between Angela Davis and Betita Martinez back in the 90s. Agreeing it was something we should avoid. Not to say multiple jeopardy is wrong, just immediate assumptions of the "most" victimised doesn't help.

Ah, yeh Angela Davis and Martina discussed this back in 90s in regards to how to build a coalition between POCs and the importance of avoiding oppression olympics. Generalises well. Wee still fall into this trap which leads us to perpetuate victimisation towards one another.
