Oh sorry, yes it was more of just a general grievance of my own which I was wondering how others handled.
About the specific HPC matter, is the use of AWS and GCP not standard yet? Or are there tasks that only specific HCPs can perform that the systems can’t yet.

Certainly not. Example: we wrote code (for simulation but it could have been analysis) that ran on an FPGA high-frequency trading architecture. And most of our code is run on a university distributed HPC platform. AWS is in fact proprietary (and very expensive for large datasets)

Simon - what do you mean when say 'proprietary'? Genuinely asking, because we really like open standards for as much of what we offer as possible, except for the bits under the hood, whose innards only really matter to us.
