The supreme court's decision on #ShamimaBegum confirms my lingering fear that unlike their White cousins', the citizenship of my mixed-heritage children will forever be precarious & conditional on account of maternal ties to a land they've never visited. This country is scary
That’s probably more a fear my dad/grandparents might have. I have a bit of a weird relationship with police. I get really really nervous and have to put on a confident attitude. I’m always afraid.

The fear of being separated from your children at the border. That’s difficult. When you’re born here you don’t ever think about it. The U.K. is all we know. (The Shamima Begum case really shocked me, until then I didn’t know it was possible; in my head I was British).

I guess it's another parent-to-child conversation to be added to the list.. together with "careful smoking weed at uni with your white friends, cos only you will get arrested/expelled"
