Growing up I had to be taught about joint enterprise, the Stephen Lawrence case, Stop and Search under the Terrorism Act (basically the new SUS laws). Tbh - I do think any black or brown child should know this stuff. Just black and brown kids grow up in a whole other world.
I guess it's another parent-to-child conversation to be added to the list.. together with "careful smoking weed at uni with your white friends, cos only you will get arrested/expelled"
I also have mixed feelings about operation trident, prevent and a lot of the anti-terrorism/anti-gun & knife crime initiatives. I just don’t know where I sit on any of it or how I feel about it all. ___ But it’s all important knowledges for non-white kids.
