The car analogy is very misleading. Car radios are not a driver of traffic on the roads. News content is a driver of traffic on Facebook. I haven't looked in detail at the issues, but it's worrying when misleading analogies are used in corporate statements.

News content is a very minor driver of traffic on FB. News only represents 4% of all content. Political content of all kinds is 6%.

The percentage of content doesn’t necessarily correlate with levels of engagement.

I imagine consumers of political content likely spend increased time engaging and increased time on Facebook, which is really the currency of the attention economy.
