I know this is scary, but doing a PhD while on a FB salary = the dream. It’s only a few PhDs. The only downside is you probably won't be able to spin out your work as a business. You probably get a guaranteed job afterwards though.

Also there are VCs that prioritize startup founders that worked at FANG companies. So, probs easier to get funding as well.

Essentially. A lot for the YC alumni I met were all ex-FAANG employees. It’s a huge tick-box in both industry and academia.
