But tbh, I only know this b/c I've done the whole pitching to investors, raising seed rounds, developing MVP, G2M strategy, financial modelling, etc. It's less obvious how startups work until you've done it all.

I only have very limited experience with it. Just enough to understand some of the basic lingo and that it’s not for me.

Some ideas are applicable to academia though. Like the whole idea of trying to test the main point of failure in the project first and that failing quickly is a good thing. I found that useful.

It gets exhausting very quickly! I tried to start a podcast on there, but there's so much competition now! They'll add recording options (users are recording some discussion). There could be ticketed events and definitely advertisements. Could be acquire by Spotify

I’m just so used to x2 now that listening at x1 feels very slow and tedious. The ability to accelerate and skip the dull bits, would make it better for me.

lool - I have the same problem. The corporate rooms feel like linkedIn. Sometimes it feels a bit talkshowy or agony aunt — phone in and ask your question. Once people can record I do think it'll go through a second growth phase as more GenAlpha/Gen-Z creators join.

There will be another big surge when the Android version comes out. I’m old enough to remember the early days of the Internet when AOL first appeared and the old generation was appalled by the invasion of the common folk. That’d probably be similar

looool - true. If they begin recording and hosting, then APIs could quickly turn it into a huge speech database. Which I think would be exciting and could be incredibly for a lot of NLP research!

Youtube is that already, but for more casual conversations maybe with the caveat that offline people interrupt each other more frequently. Would be interesting to see bots develop there. That’s the Turing test in the field.

Is there much research on YouTube videos? Early vlogs could be powerful for investigating speech, facial expressions and emotions.

If such a clubhouse API existed, it could accelerate generalised speech recognition. As users may be more likely to share voice notes and conversations publicly. Maybe it’s possible to extract further information (I.e emotional state) from tonal information during conversations
