OK parents, my 4.5 years old child will not play by herself for more than 10 minutes and I know this because I took the time.
I know she should be able to play independently. We do play with her and spend lots of time paying attention to her.
Suggestions?. #Advice #parenting

Much strength to you though 
iPad doesn’t work? I would just give my sister an iPad when she was small or put on a LetsPlay give her a off Xbox controller and let her believe she’s playing the video game.

Yep, iPad does work but I’d like for her to exercise that beautiful mind of hers and stretch her imagination. A tiny bit. Remember when U were little and had long car drives and only the outside world to look at? Unthinkable for her. I don’t think that’s good though?

We spend a lot of time thinking about the kids being purposefully bored..... especially on car journeys. I think it is important but finding the energy set the boundary and leaving them to be bored is very very very tough. Virtual support and sympathy.

I know it’s hard but perhaps be kind to the two of you and accept that right doesn’t have to be when she learns to cope with being bored and independent. TV is great! Loads of natural history documentaries available. See how much of one she will watch and reward her for doing so.

Best case scenario she’ll learn stuff and give you some space. Worst case you’re no better off than you are now.
