Arguably, we can only say we really understand some phenomenon when we get to the point where results are reproducible.

But a.lack of reproducibility does indicate non generalization, arguably rendering the results less useful?
Michael makes good points, but there is still an issue with reproducibility — in that labs aiming to reproduce results aren’t considered to be doing ‘novel science’ and thus there’s limited funding & journals are less willing to publish their results.
