A lot of MPs seem to know zip about universities and think they're like giant debating societieshttps://www.theguardian.com/education/2021/feb/16/uk-government-criticised-over-plans-to-oversee-free-speech-at-universities?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other …

MPs expert qualifications on universities: they once went to university so must know everything. Exactly the same as why they're experts in how schools should work...

Especially dangerous as at least the Tories all went to the same University so there goes that tiny weensy bit of insight. My mission today is to let academics know in the UK that the exact SAME thing is going down in France...It's an orchestrated attack on academia

I think it’s more of an attempt to scapegoat young people as problematic and create cultural divisions to ensure progressive ideas don’t permeate through society — maintain their political power as a older voters won’t question discriminatory Tory policies.

I think it has little to do with academics and more an attempt to force their ideologies onto the younger generation. Hate speech is seductive. If it’s not stopped, it’ll influence young people and also how they vote in the future. Halting the progress of progressivism.
