If there is no information that leads to an ordered sequence, then the claim that it is a spectrum fails. That is what I am saying. The graph is misleading. And more importantly ignores what the peer reviewed biology says about what a sex is and how as sex is characterised.

It's great book and I'm really glad to see you taking some initiative. Data visualisation can be a tricky topic for some. It's okay to find topics difficult to understand. I realise your struggling to understand. I'm more than happy to provide you guidance when you need it.

I.e it is diagram to convey ideas. So there's isn't a conventional x-axis. I think there's just a lot of foundational concepts in data visualisation that it might be helpful to first learn. Maybe some wider reading would help.

So the diagram fails in its primary objective to show sex as a spectrum because it is unable to characterise that spectrum. Instead it is quite misleading by plotting both the to sexes and aneuploidies *as if* they formed some sort of ordered continuum even with a rainbow...
