I rarely tweet in anger but... just realised a paper I reviewed (with a long, detailed review, pointing out many inconsistencies, flaws and omissions) in 2019 (!) has just been resubmitted. Exactly the same. In 2021. I've been asked to review it. 1/4

How many dishonest resubmissions in between? With the disgusting hope that it might get accepted out of luck, if reviewers or AC don't pay too much attention. I put a lot of time, effort and dedication into my reviews -- as I expect anyone reviewing my papers would do. 2/4

That's just basic scientific honesty and integrity. Now that I know some people just blatantly ignore reviews, resubmit as is until they eventually get published, well... call me an idealist but some faith in humanity has been lost today. 3/4

Sorry for the angry rant, Twitter. I won't publicly shame the author(s) as I take my reviewer role seriously and won't break anonymity -- but for what it's worth, I had to get it out of my system. 4/4
